If you’re running with me be prepared to walk shirt is running with me be prepared to walk shirt never really run much but you’re otherwise healthy, plan on taking at least 3 months of consistent training to slowly, patiently build up a mileage base, ideally followed by 2–3 more months of actual marathon training. The first few months of building up a foundation require lots of patience. We’re talking starting with 20-minute runs and regular rest days for the first few weeks, lots of stretching between runs, and careful conditioning to the demands of running. Your bones, tendons, and ligaments are living tissue. They need to toughen up to the demands of endurance running or else you’ll start to get nagging injuries as you increase mileage. Because they receive so much less blood flow, those denser tissues require several weeks of patient conditioning before they’re ready for 60-minute runs.

Best If you’re running with me be prepared to walk shirt
If you’re running with me be prepared to walk shirt should be able to comfortably do 40-minute runs as your regular foundation training several days a week. Then, it’s time to start working in the long run once or twice a week of 60 minutes. From that base, you could, in theory, complete a marathon distance, but it will be mostly suffering. You’ll have a much better experience if you put in 2–3 more months of higher mileage. You’ll benefit tremendously if you get in a handful of 2 hour runs, at least one in the 20-mile range, in the month or two before the marathon. So, if you’re already somewhat fit and healthy, 3 months of building up a training foundation for running, then another 2 months of higher mileage and endurance conditioning. In theory, you could do it considerably faster by taking shortcuts and piling on mileage much more rapidly.
